Part 0: What Am I (Politically)?

The question "where do I fall on the political spectrum" has been one that's been plaguing my mind for months now and, unfortunately, I do not have a good answer. However, I do think it's high time I started formulating and ideology and explaining it and so this post will be the first in a series, untitled thus far, wherein I will examine what I hold true about value systems, the state, "rights", etc.

After the jump I will post the results of my latest round of political quizzes (up to date as of 3/28/14) and, in bullet form, list some of the things I believe (in no particular order, just as they come to me).

Note: the list is in no way a complete argument, rather a starting block with which to build future posts and arguments. The aphorisms below will be fleshed out in later posts as I form my ideology and will be crossed out.

What Do I Believe*

  • There is some objective reality
  • Humans exist in a physical sense
  • There are species and categories of life, but the concept is arbitrary (see here)
  • Nature has objective intrinsic value
  • Humans are cancerous and the population boom is proof of this
  • Humans need to decrease in number
  • Race, amongst humans, is not a social construct, rather it is biologically based
  • There are differences amongst the races of humanity
  • No race is inherently superior
  • Value systems are social constructs are thus morality and questions of worth are subjective depending upon the culture
  • There is no objective morality, as such, there are no fundamental human rights in the modern sense
  • Humans are, at our base, violent creatures that, when unrestrained, resort to barbarism to achieve personal expansion
  • This personal expansion comes at the cost of the natural as well as our fellow humans
  • "Absolute freedom is no better than chaos."
  • At a higher level, humans are creatures that need order to function
  • Authoritarianism does NOT equal totalitarianism
  • The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few
  • A strong source of leadership is needed to restrain barbarism and hedonism
  • A strong state is needed, if only to hone the self
  • Freedom in private, obligation in public
  • Any political theology that doesn't address realpolitiks is useless
  • Capitalism exploits the many for the benefit of the few
  • Democracy is a joke
  • Each ethnic group has a primitive right to self-determination
  • [WORK IN PROGRESS - THERE ARE PROBABLY OTHER THINGS]

*subject to change; void where prohibited
